| First Crocus of the year. |
On February's Bloom Day this year, snow still covers most of my back yard, but the snow has retreated from the south-facing front yard. Yesterday I spotted a tiny species Crocus peeking out from the clumps of dried vegetation.
A couple of snow drops and a couple of clumps of the buds of 'Orange Monarch' were also coming up. The green buds of daffodils and narcissi are showing too, along with the foliage of the Sternbergia planted last fall.

The Witchhazel on the west side of the house is in bloom, though the showy 'Diane' in the back yard has yet to display anything. Hopefully today's rain will melt more of the crusted snow in the back yard, starting the process of growth.

There are more flowers indoors: some orchids in the master bath and elsewhere, and an African violet.

The miniature orchid, Epidendrum polybulbon is still displaying its one bloom, and the African violet is still covered in blossoms.

Downstairs a pink Pahlaenopsis has re-bloomed. I'm hoping that spring will bring more of my Phalaenopsis orchids into bloom in the next few months.

That's a LOT of snow, Elena. I love Crocus but our winters don't get cold enough for them to thrive here. I love your orchids, especially that Miltassia!
Your orchids are looking beautiful. I sure hope your snow melts soon!
Oh lovely! Your landscape looks very similar to ours, although most of the snow melted today. It appears we will have an early spring here in the Upper Midwest. Or maybe nature will surprise us with another round of bitter cold or a snowstorm. It's always so hard after a warm spell. Beautiful Orchids!
It is a wonderful sight seeing that first crocus and your indoor blooms are beautiful, especially the orchids and African Violet…so pretty! We are under snow as well, with a new coating just this morning!
Not even a blip of snow this winter over here in western Oregon. Your orchids look so happy! I need to replace my African violets. The new HVAC system at work killed most of my office plants that I've had for almost 20 years, so time for a fresh start!
I, too, hope that spring comes soon. In the meantime - those orchids are absolutely beautiful. I have great respect for anyone who can grow them.
As your Secret Admirer (not anything like that old stick-in-the-mulch husband of yours) I'm proud to see how vibrantly and various grow even the earliest denizens of your magic year-around garden.
